hole card play?
how is this done?
I'm under the impression that hole card players have an advantage off the top. Is it only possible with certain conditions or what? I've never seen a dealer allow the hole card to lift off the table before flipping it over to play out the dealers hand.

Some dealers are sloppy about how they tuck their downcard underneath the upcard, tilting it enough to be visible to some seats at the table. And, yes, it's a healthy advantage if you can find a game like that.

I've always wondered how unsubtle you can be about this. On every deal, can you just stick your face on the felt, squint-- and say "I'm trying to see your hole card."?

Coupling hole carding with counting can be very advantageous yet, you may want to find a good strategy chart for it. When the opportunity presents its self use it.

Anyone know of a similar chart that includes the surrender option?

There are actually several different spots where the hole card may be visible. Keep your eyes open during the entire draw/tuck procedure. You may find that some dealers expose their cards at different times or in different positions.

In a shoe game, exposing the hole card during the draw and tuck is very rare, but you might see it during the peek. There's a peek only 4/13 hands so this will cut your opportunities. However some CSM's will increase your opportunities.

on one occasion sitting at 3rd, from time to time i could catch a glimpse of the dealer's hole card, while just sitting there normally.
(due to incredibly sloppy card handling)
too bad i didn't know how to apply the information at the time.
1st and 3rd base provide the best opportunities at this, in my very limited opinion.
