Default "K.O." Review

Just finished My first "Go Through" of K.O. Blackjack although I guess this is the easiest of the count strategies to implement.............I felt the material could have been presented in a clearer [easier to understand/user friendly ]manor.

I don't understand, what did you find so difficult with the book? Do you have any questions? I guess I won't suggest that you read "The Theory of Blackjack" next!

I kind of agree. The book starts out in a very easy to understand linear manner, but about halfway through (once you're in the meat of KO preferred), items start getting introduced in a seemingly random manner, and it's kind of unclear how everything fits together.

Not a huge problem, just a minor quibble.

I think it's an excellent, to the point how-to, book.

Well for one thing I had a little "Difficulty" with some of the graphs and tables and thought the section about when to vary from basic strategy could have been explained a little clearer........................Don't get me wrong I still think it's a very good book.

Now I'd like to know what dvd or software program would be best for a newbie counter...................The only experince I have is counting A'ces and Fives in S/D games.

i think two places where KO is lacking is in the discussion of the key count and pivot point, those were the sections i found myself stumbling through the most, specifically what do they exactly mean. I know the book describes the terms, but in retrospect something like a table with what the advantage/expectation at each point would have been nice. also a discussion of when to wong in, like the one on here recently would have added a great deal.

other than that I thought the book was pretty easy to follow. i got tired of reading about gumballs but the book was easy to follow and I started practicing using it within one day of reading it.

i thought all the graphs and math were easy to follow, i found 3 typos in the book, one in a graph, one in some math, and one in the text. none were of serious consequence to understanding the book.

there is a lot to digest in the book, but I think it is presented clearly enough so that one could get started using KO immediately. for me that was the whole point.

I thought the book explained everything as good as they needed to. I had no problems with any part of the book.

I think what gives some people trouble is the negative numbers and then how to customize the count.

To me the easiest approach, regardless of number of decks, is to start the count at zero. Then you rarely deal with negative numbers at all. If the count is negative, you need to wong out!

I don't do it that way, but I think that one of the strengths of KO is being able to customize the count...I start with a negative number, but fix the key count and pivot point so that my first point of recognition is when the count gets to 0...and so on from there.

good luck

having only been using KO for a few sessions now, I have trouble with positive numbers! since so often in 6D you're counting through negatives.

i really need to work on this....

i'd like to customize the count, but since i've only ever played 6d, when i first get to play 2D i already know how to adjust the count - which would be more difficult for me if I customized it....
