Default Practicing tournament strategy

What’s the best way to practice tournament strategy? Is there good software out there for practicing? How about some good drills? Does it help to play a mock-tournament by yourself and try to play every spot?

Sonny needs to beef up his tournament skills...

There are two software products that you can use, but I'm not a big fan of either actually. Casino Verite v3 has a tournament mode, which was removed in v4 pending a new tournament special version of CV. If you have CV4, the CD ships with the old version v3 as well, and you can install both versions to get the tournament features.

The other software is Wong's Tournament Blackjack. It's OK, but still not all that great.

I'd recommend playing online, either free games at http://www.playubt.com or paid games at Bet21.com. However, all those games use the special UBT elimination format with some extra twists. Still, it would be reasonable practice. Just realize that free games feature MUCH more aggressive players than you'll see in a typical tournament.

I got CV4 a few months back and don't see V3 on the CD, and I don't see it on the Qfit web site. Maybe it was removed from the CD????

Still there. E-mail me for instructions. I removed the tournament features in V4 as they are out of date and I think it is misleading to distribute out of date materials. Same reason I dropped my VP software. The tournament mode will still give you a challenging game. But not the game you can expect against true pros.
