Vegas Info Please, Last Trip 2 Years Ago

Live in Jacksonville, Fl. and visited Biloxi often, really miss the place. Spent most of the time at Treasure Bay and the President. Wife and I are going to Vegas Christmas day for 4 nights. Staying at the Rio (freebe) and will have a rental car. I usually play a $20 bet with $10 progressions on wins, my wife is about half that.

Would appreciate any info on current conditions. Ideal is Double Deck, DOA, DAS and S17. Stayed at the Flamingo prior trips and hit a lot of the local casinos. Liked Sam's Town but if I remember right they did not have DAS.

I play online at Pacific Poker, prefer tournaments. Would also appreciate any input on $25 to $50 holdem tournaments.

Have a good time. We too miss Biloxi. The plane ride to Vegas from Florida and the cost is enough to keep us from going more often. For the game you are looking for, I believe you will need to go downtown and leave the strip. You mentioned the Flamingo, they have a single deck game with the 6/5 blackjack. You will find similar single deck games at the other casinos along the strip. Always avoid those even though they are often full of players. Seemed all the strip casinos hit on 17 as well. Once downtown "the old section" you can easily walk into the casinos from the mall and see who has the best rules. Downtown is a little too hardcore for our tastes. We like the station casinos. They are more comfortable to us like in Biloxi. The rules are not what you are looking for though. Hopefully Biloxi will be back soon. We feel sorry for all the nice employees we met, that were displaced from their homes and jobs.

While I stay at the Rio,I rarely do much playing there.
You might enjoy the Imperial Palace. Its got pretty good rules on its doubledeck games. Only real drawback is not being able to split aces more than once. Its right next to Harrahs and there is a free shuttle between Harrahs and Rio.Be sure to hit the Rios buffet(either one). Best in Vegas as far as I'm concerned. Best of luck!

newyorkbear, you're correct. The 'champagne pit' at the Imperial Palace offers decent single and double-deck games, probably the best one can find on the Strip. I've played there often over the past year, and have almost always come out ahead. (I even had one dealer on a double-deck game deal an extra two hands when he and I both knew the count was WAY positive -- the power of tips!) And if you're concerned with comps, the IP is very liberal. (How that will change once Harrah's takes over, or even if the IP will still exist, remains to be seen...)

I just returned from a three-day jaunt to Vegas, and I will reiterate what many others have posted -- you'll find probably the best game in Vegas at the Plaza, Downtown. Double-deck, dealt face-up out of a shoe, DAS, and BJ pays 3-2. Also, all BJ games at the 4 Queens pay 3-2, and I found a good deal of 1/2 deck games there.

Interestingly, I had my most profitable session at the Palms, where my girlfirend insisted we visit. It was a single deck game, $10 minimum, but the rules were terrible and BJ paid 6/5, of course. I bought in for $50, and cashed out for $300. (They only deal two hands before a shuffle, no matter how many players are at the table. I use the KO System, and went from 1 unit to 3 when the count was positive on the second hand.)

Radioguy21, I'll underscore your mention of 4-Queens. They have a pretty darn good Single Deck $5 minimum table there that I've had some fun at. Ironic...it's MUCH better than the shoe games as far as player disadvantage, yet you'll seldom see more than one or two folks at the SD game while the shoe tables are packed!

Also, you can find a good Single Deck game at El Cortez...if you can get there and back without an armed escort at night! I go there during the day

BTW....are Dan and "Queen Sheba" and Penny still dealing at Plaza?
