Hi/Lo Question

It's pretty easy to find info on the counting for hi/lo, but I'm having trouble finding a definitive betting schedule for it. I've found varying information as far as how many units to bet when the TC is +2, +4, etc.

Can someone provide some info for me (for single, two and six decks) or maybe show me a link to where I can find the info?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I'm usually good at finding things on Google, but my brain doesn't seem to be working to well this afternoon.

It depends on who you talk to and their preference. I personally follow the TC - 1 for my betting unit philosophy. Example: If we're in a 6 deck game, and 3 decks are already in the discard, and I have a running count of 12.

12/3 = 4
4 - 1 = 3

Bet 3 units

I think Don Schlesinger who wrote blackjack attack promotes something along these lines:

TC from 1 - 2 (Bet 1 Unit) (2-3) Bet 2 Units (3-4) Bet 4 Units (5+ Max units for your bankroll)

I may be slightly off, but I know thats another method.

Your bet spread will change drastically depending on the rules of the game and your playing style. If you look at the “Free Counting Resources On Web” post at the top of this forum you can read through the Gamemaster’s free course that will give you an introduction to betting techniques. His website also has lots of good articles about betting strategies.

Once you get the basics down you will want to read Don Schlesinger’s “Blackjack Attack” for more advanced information on bet spreads and win rates.

Why wouldn't you maxbet when the TC=1 assuming you had the bankroll to do so since at that point, you would have the edge over the casino for most games that are S17

the edge at TC = 1 is VERY modest. it can varry from roughly ~ -0.5% to + 0.5% depending on the game and other subtle factors. Even at TC = +4 i think the edge over most games is only around 2 to 2.5%

Yes, but you still do have an edge. If you have a huge bankroll, betting table's max would make you the most money in the long run, but that way would also carry a huge variance that a smaller bankroll could not support. If your bankroll is 1000x the table max and the casino gives you no heat, then there is no reason to bet smaller, is there?
