How long are you going to be there?
Of the places I've been to, none are a must-avoid. I'd say El Cortez is a must play.
They say that Orleans is heat city, therefore, it would be a must play as well. Just don't give them any ID.
I only went to two "Station" casinos (Palace, Boulder, and Green Valley Ranch). Rules seems consistent across the franchise. The 6D game was not particularly compelling, the doubledeck was workable at an uncrowded table. In conclusion, if you've been to one, you may have been to them all.

saturday noon until monday noon.
planning on getting there, haning out, being a tourist, checking out places i won't be playing at, eating some doughnuts (ask some other time) then going to sleep. waking up maybe 3am and planning on playing until
noon sunday. then repeat for sun-mon.
El Cortez is #1 on the list. Then: Nevada Palace, Bighorn, Longhorn, 4 Queens, and the stations.

Where is Casino Montelago?
I hope you grabbed an ACG or two as almost every casino you listed has match-play coupons in there.
If you are over that way,Ellis Island has a great steak dinner for $4.95 AND you get a $5 match-play with it.
Best of luck!

Oh yeah, and a lasvegasadvisor.com subscription will get you a coupon book with tons of crap in it.
IF their offices are open on the weekend, you could pick up the coupon book while you're there. That's what I did, but it was a friday.

There seemed to be 3 levels of Casino's in Vegas including downtown. For the hardcore downtown seemed to be the place. Lots of history, smoke filled, good rules, and low limit tables. Step one block off Fremont and you better be packing heat. I exagerate some. At the other end are the palaces along the strip. No low limit tables, lousy rules, and a sense that only the wealthy are welcome. Not very accomodating. We found the Station Casinos, and Green Valley to be somewhat in the middle. Good food, decent tables, and accomodating. On our first visit to green valley, we were walking around the bj tables looking for a $5 table. $10 seemed to be the min. My wife asked a dealer standing at an empty table if there were any $5 dollar tables. The PB said this table is and changed the limit to $5 so we could sit down and play. I was very impressed. So for us middle class folk, we like the Station casinos.

I've stayed at Sunset Station and though off the strip a little, it is very nice.

I had the best luck at The New Frontier and I recommend it :-). Not as good as Cortez but it's right on the strip and I never had any heat to deal with.
