Default Will counting work for 70% penetration?

i play at the majestic star where the rules are DAS, S17, 8 decks, split to 4 hands, and the penetration is only 70%, and i was thinking that with 8 decks and 70% penetration, will a BASIC card counting system work? such as hi-lo (which i believe is 2-5=-1 and 8-A=+1)? and by work, i mean compared to 80% penetration with 4 decks

hi-lo will work for whatever the conditions are. if you are playing 8-deck with 70% pen you should be looking for a different game.

It will work but the problem is with poor pen you won't make very much money and your risk actually increases. It also requires a ton of patience waiting for those few advantageous situations. What happens is the count finally goes high and you will only get 1 or 2 max bets out then the cut card comes out. Jump all over the 4 decks with 80% pen, that's a good game!

Most importantly, avoid making any bets in -EV counts. zg

Default Majestic Star - Barten

SilentBob, can you remember if they plugged the discards prior to the shuffle?
Last time I was there they were not plugging them, in addition to using shills.
Barten's Majestic is a grind out joint.

1. i dont card count and 2. its DAS, S17, DA2, split to 4 hands, which is a .47% house edge.. thats quite good (in the 9 casinos ive been to, that is the best).. but when u say i shud look for a dif game, are u talking about the 8 decks or the penetration? cuz i cud be wrong about the penetration, it cud be as high as like 80%

its the majestic star 1&2 (2 boats) in gary, indiana.. is barten the owner or something? cuz that name sounds familiar.. and what is plugging? and im positive they dont use shills, the ppl are idiots and have that look on their faces like they are playing with their rent money.. that casino used to have $3 tables, now they dont even have $5, or draft beer, and they took out some video poker machines, and they now card u for the buffet and make sure ur a high roller.. and after all those downgrades they are STILL the best casino in chicagoland (7 casinos total)

a little bit of both. the lower the number of decks and/or the deeper the pen. the better for the player. the casinos know this and that's why you don't see a DD game dealt to like the 90% level. also I have seen 1 $5 table at the majestic, but it was early in the evening (like 4pm). they do have a DD game there now dealt to about the 50% level - which isn't too bad BUT better than the 8 dealt to the 70% level.
