Default In need of Jack Magic analysis...

http://wizardofodds.com/blackjack/ap...html#JackMagic

assuming one could find the "Jack Magic" side bet at a non-csm table (i found a casino's website that indicates they have this, but am not 100% sure), could you 'beat' jack magic at high counts alone, or would a side count of jacks be in order, and if so what would the general strategy be?

house odds seem really high, so i'm not sure this is a winning proposition.

thanks in advance
-M.

How many decks do they use? Are the payouts the same as on the Wiz's website?

I'm familiar with the sidebet; it's definitely beatable with counting, just a matter if you will get positive EV often enough to make it worth sidecounting jacks.

it would require a sidecount, though - correct?

and would it work in 2D? or is 6D the only condition in which it would be worth the effort?

Yes, you would need a sidecount.

Usually the DD and 6D versions of a sidebet have different paytables that give them roughly similar house edges. In this case the DD game will almost always be better because there will be more occasions where there is a very high density of jacks.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to visit the casino, see what tables they are dealing it on and what the paytables are on each, PM it to me and I'll take a crack at simulating it for you.

the casino in question is 300 miles from me and the people who play there that are my scouts don't know BJ very well. i could try with them again.
from the casino's website it is hard to say if the side bet is on CSM tables or not. otherwise it will be on a 6D. i'll try and figure this out this week, because i would really like to know the answer....

Chukchansi (sp?) in Yosemite has this on their CSM 6D games. 500:1 for three one-eyed jacks.
