Default Top bet adjustement

7 more sleeps till Vegas. Just wondering at what point on a upwards or downswing do you adjust your bet ramp or top bet? Kevin Blackwood suggests not to do it too often, he says after swings of 20% or more, but I know I read either here or in another book that you should adjust it at least every swing of $500 for a low roller. Any opinions?

Personally, I've decided to adjust when I can round to the nearest meaningful chip.

For instance, if bankroll increases from $4k to $5k, change max bet from $40 to $50. Bankroll changes from $20k to $2.25k (we can hope!), change max bet from $200 to $225.

I don't know if it's smart, but it's simple. There are of course other factors that might influence your decision, like your risk tolerance if your roll is shrinking, or the confidence in your act if it's growing.

Just wondering if u would also increase ur bet ramp by the same percentage? Or just ur top bet?

No idea if it's smart or not lol. But it's simple!

Tom - On a 7 day trip, in general, I'd say don't change too often. Just have a clear idea of how u want to play which games and bring a couple hundred units. But of course it's up to u.

Maybe re-size and re-evaluate ur game/playing strategy lol if u lose 100 units. Other than that, if ur winning, just keep doing it because it's working!

Good question with no easy answer.

Yep, I'd also increase my max bet if my bankrolle swelled enough to support it. Actually, I think I did that when I was on my super-winning Vegas weekend.

Over a shortish session I don't think it really matters. Say you have a $10 bankroll an walk into a joint with $1k in your pocket. You'd probalby have to lose the entire $1k before you resized your bet. And by that point, you'd be taking a break anyway, since you just tapped out. And if you won $1k to increase your bet, well, you might be considering leaving the joint pretty soon as to not have an embarassing mess of chips to cash out with.

Well I was just wondering if, say, your bankroll increases by 12,5% (like 20 to 22500) and your max bet of 200 had been, say 10 units, or even 8, what u do with the lower bets? - Just keep them same? Round them up or down?

No big deal.
