Just need to vent - reassurance, anyone? :-)
Worst negative fluctuation I've ever hit.
Playing a double-deck game with great penetration, 1-6 spread. The count hardly ever called for a large bet (rather, it was mostly negative) so I flat bet a measly $5 a majority of the time. Within 2 hours, I was down $260. At one point I'm pretty sure that I lost a good 9 hands in a row. The dealer couldn't believe how 'unlucky' I was and why I kept playing.
Being fed up, I decided to aggresively wong for a while. (yes, the double-deck game allows mid entry) After an hour of doing so (and hopping out on all negative counts) I only salvaged $10 of my dollars.
Ick. Hope that never happens again...

Yep, that's indeed shitty.
On a couple of occassions, I've gone through shitty losing streaks at a table, and I think the dealers became confused at why I didn't leave the table.

try this one on...
wong in on a great shoe. Count gets absurd(+23 adjusted KO running count)i'd say +5tc. Finally, I start to recover. Last hand, I lay out 12 units, get a solid 20 vs dealer 6, hehe, clear sailing, right ? Dealer draws paint...and a 5.
The lovely world of advantage play. But, I know I will do it again in a heart beat.
hang in their

Sorry, it will. That was only 60 units. That's nothing. Losing 100 units per night is routine, as is winning 110 units per night.

I just tell them I'm a compulsive gambler and an alcoholic, sobbing and wondering out loud how I'm going to pay my bills this week. I've had dealers and PC's beg me to leave the table and go get some help. That's the only part that bothers me a little, because I'm messing with people's heads and the dealer and PC didn't do anything to deserve to have their day darkened like that.
One time I wanted to clear out a table, so I resorted to the worst psycho cover of all. After a brief losing streak, I drunkenly told everyone I was losing because God hates me because of what I did with my sister when I was a kid. Then I get everyone at the table to forswear incest so this never happens to them.
Empty table in one minute! But you don't do anything like that any place but Atlantic City at 4 AM, because you don't want to get tossed for behavior, and still you only do it when you really have to because you don't know how civilians are going to react to a comment like that. You could end up rolling around on the floor with someone, and not in a good way either.

Monkey you sound like you are nuts! My question is, is it neccessary to have to put on such an act? I never could pull off someting like that, and I don't think I would even try. If I don't play any real role at the table will it eventually cut my playing time down? I am not much of an actor, do I have to be to be a great AP?

Amen brother! 60 units is par for the course. The swings will usually be within 50-60 units per hour so anything can happen over the course of an evening.

At a high level, yes. By high level I mean thousands of dollars per hand, something I'm nowhere near yet. But sometimes I'll do an extreme act like that for a very specific purpose, like clearing a table, or distracting a dealer/PC. It isn't recommended to do it all the time, just when you need it.

Yeah, you guys are right. As stanford wong once put it,
"You must be able to lose a lot of money. You do not want to lose, but you will lose frequently. You will win frequently too, and over the long haul, you are certain to win more than you lose, but the long haul may be a long time in coming."
and of course, the famous,
"You must be cold and calculating. Steely blue eyes wil do."
I feel a bit better after sleeping on it, haha.
