Default Differnces in double deck . pitch vs shoe

Has there been any research published about the subtle differences in these games?
WOO lists the house edge for El Cortez at .017 for the SD and .039DD.
Yet,playing the DD allows you much greater chances to interact with other players hands, and gives you a much better look for insurance.
Has anyone studied these? I see no difference on the WOO site for DD if its face-up or facedown, but its a very different game.

don't forget the pen issue.. the DD is 75%, the SD is 50%

I have not the answer to your question, obviously, but your intuition about seeing more cards does add to your edge. in dd and sd you are often hovering right around the counts necessary for proper index play, in a game where 3 or 4 tens are hidden in other peoples' hands it could really change the outcome of certain key plays.... INS for one, doubling 10 v 10,A for another.

This is a fair question, that deserves a fair answer.
In my veiw, it appears as if the dealer is hiting S17 in the above example for SD but not the DD. Provided the same rules are in effect the difference in advantage should be -.38[according to experts this may vary somewhat.]

In the aspects of a face up, or face down game there's no difference in advantage to the BS player. Interestingly enough However, for a counter, the more people that's playing in a face down game, the less cards we immediately see, in return effecting the accuracy of our playing strategy, the more people, the greater the effect. Many people claim that third base is the choice of seat in these scenarios due to the fact that if a player bust his/her cards are exposed .Of course if were playing heads up with the dealer this would rule would have no impact on a counter, for he would see all the cards as if they were dealt face up. Since the play of hands is more signifigant in 1D and 2D than MD it's no secret why MD are always dealt face up.
