There are many books available about this subject but many of them seems like scams. What are the best books that give the most insight about handicapping and the ways to get an edge at sports betting?

That presupposes that, a)there are ways to get an edge in sports betting, and, b)that whoever has that edge would be willing to destroy it by giving it away for a few dollars to anyone who buys his or her book. There is also a subsidiary presupposition that a book will give insights that can be profitably used by the reader.

It should come as no surprise that most handicapping books are scams--they are written by writers, not bettors. The bettors are too busy making money to write books, and the ones who do write books will only tell you what worked last year or back in the 1980s, or whatever. No one in his or her right mind is going to give away the candy score for a dollar or two in book royalties.

It won't tell you how it's done, but a recent book by Michael Konik does provide a fascinating story about the world's most successful sports bettor. Konik's book, The Smart Money: How the World's Best Sports Bettors Beat the Bookies Out of Millions, the main character is Rick "Big Daddy" Matthews, in real life Billy Walters.

If you're interested in sports betting, or just advantage gambling in general, I highly recommend it.
