Default Circus circus - Reno

I am going to Reno on June 20th. Can anybody tell me about the BJ tables at the Circus Circus. I may also go to Harrah's. Any information would be helpful. TIA

Circle Jerkus is a perfectly good place to play SD, providing it isn't too crowded. Harrah's is usually a waste of time.

Amen to that about Harrah's. Unless you really like 6/5 SD. Stay away!
As for the Circus... Penetraion there has really gone downhill in the past several years, Ro4/5 is about as good as it gets. I have heard though, that some of the older dealers "push" the envelope and will deal deeper to avoid fatigue. It's just too bad I keep getting these younger chicks that go by the book. Better to go next store to the Legacy or El Dorado, just stay away from the $25+ tables and their MIND PLAY.
If you want piss poor cocktail service, that's the place! I could brew my beer sooner than having one served in the pit.
On a more positive note, they do keep the kids entertained and their room promos are very good.

I don't know, when I went last I was getting RO6 most of the time. The problem was finding a table.

One thing about CC is they have a reputation for treating their employees horribly. So bad they can't get Americans to work there. All the help is from countries where they are used to being treated horribly.

Default Circus Circus is great for kids!

I used to love to go to Circus Circus as a kid. I loved playing the water shoting games. My favorite was the horse racing game the winner got a stuffed animal yeah. As far as gambling is concerned I don't like to gamble there that much. I never played blackjack there just poker. On the poker tables they raked $3.50 when most places where raking $3.00 and that was on a $2-4 game. The blackjack rules there are probably only average Boomtown has the best rules for blackjack if you are going to be in the reno area. Double any first two cards blackjack pays 3 to 2 best rules you can find almost any where. Watch out for the pit though they no what they are doing.

Thanks for the info guys! I ususally play 6D shoe or DD. Is the DD pitch or "slide" out of a shoe? My "home" casinos are in Tunica MS. It seems that my casinos here are easier on the rules. Had a great AND profitable time in Vegas last month. This will be my first trip to Reno. ALL information will be greatly appreciated!

Playing SD is completely different than anything else. First of all, you can't make any money with more than 3 hands in the game, and you will get the deepest pen with exactly 2 hands in the game. Second, your spread is going to be limited- even a 1:4 spread can get you thrown out quickly, so you are more reliant on insurance and playing efficiency to make your profit.

You don't sweat the rules as much in SD- as long as you are getting full pay on naturals and at least Rule of 6 penetration (the number of rounds = 6 minus the number of hands in the game) the game is playable. Reno is very sensitive about counters and you will need cover and camouflage.

At first, I wondered why people laughed at me when I asked why I was tossed from a Reno joint with a 1:10 spread. Then I read posts like the above.

Does that include the dealer's hand? And also, does heads-up become preferable over two players if the dealer is instead using RO5 or RO7?

Very sage advice there, and let me add a few extra words of wisdom when Reno-bound. DO NOT add to your bets other than parlays from the previous hand, except from min. bet to 2 units. Keep holy the 4:1 spread commandment. Play the first one/two decks with BS. It won't hurt your EV and will throw them off for a while, besides you will get used to the pitch-game counting procedure in the process. Do not exceed ONE HOUR per session, 45 mins. is even better. Remember that all Reno BJ is no longer D10. There are DAS at several houses eg. Siena, Boomtown, Silver Club, Alamo, Rail City (last 3 in Sparks). There are a few others, but I'll let you do the groundwork.
As far as DD in concerned, they are all dealt pitch as far as I know, the Golden Phoenix(now bye-bye) was the only face-up DD that I remember. The Circus' DD is a little tricky because they place the cut cards directly into the discard tray at the beginning of the shoe(1/3 deck) so be careful to account for that. In conclusion, think of yourself as a kid in a candy shop and stealing a handful here and there and not a whole carton at a time and you should be fine.

No, just the players. I believe you get better pen with two hands if the dealer is using any kind of fixed number of hands.

But beware a SD game with a cut card. You know what that means- the Cut Card Effect! When there are a lot of 10's and aces dealt there are a lot of pat hands, and that adds up to you having to play extra rounds in bad counts.
