No casino credit to poker players?

My home casino just informed me when I went to take care of some marker business that they don't extend casino credit to poker players.

When I opened the line I was primarily playing blackjack, but I have been playing more poker recentlly than I used to, that and all the wonging I do is hard to make it look like I'm playing as much blackjack as I am.

They told me the credit manager would need to review my account, and possibly close it.

I think it's a bullshit rule, but if it comes to pass I'll deal with it. I can understand why -- they're lending you money that they're planning you to lose where as in the poker room that same money may go to another player instead of the house.

For the record, all my markers have cleared in the past, I don't roll them, and usually I end up paying them off with cash anyway within the same week they are taken out.

Has anybody else run into this? I haven't heard of this rule before and I'm just wondering if it is widespread.

Casinos tend to look upon poker as a stepchild. They're the least profitable game in the house and some managements think of them as merely an amenity. You basically never get a room comp no matter how much poker you play -- only casino rate. You generally need to play four or five hours to get a sandwich -- forget about the steakhouse. Cash coupons for poker are unheard of. So I guess a line of credit is totally out of the question.
