Question regarding UBT, for Ken

At another online BJ forum the administrator posted that UBT went bankrupt or "lost everything" because the tournaments were not popular, or some such. And that the UBT investors, mostly pro-poker players, lost their shirts.

What is the 'skinny' on this? zg

While I don't know specifics about the financial situation of UBT, they're obviously not bankrupt as they are still holding events. There's no doubt that the UIGEA put a huge dent in their plans, and they've struggled to come up with an alternative business plan. However, I wouldn't count them out of the fight just yet.

This new UBT club - $20/mo subscription for fee-less poker and BJ tournaments sounds good. I'm not convinced that it can't be attacked by regulators on legal compliance - but I like the thinking - the idea who's time has come. If there's a trend in this direction, I'll join a few of them. zg
