Going to be in Laughlin later this month and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for finding good games. The reports I've seen have been pretty dismal.

I was last there in March. Pioneer and Ramada Express had pretty good SD games,Riverside did ,as well, but I was told they change the rules on weekends.Supposedly, their SD games become 6/5 on the weekend. I don't know, but thats what two players told me.I forget the details, but Harrahs had one very good game, but at a $25 mimimum. All in all,BJ in Laughlin is superior to most strip games on the low roller level. The games at The Edgewater pretty much suck, but they sometimes have promos that enhance the value greatly. In March, they gave a coupon for every BJ(double if suited or after 1 am)Every ten coupons gave you a free door prize ranging from $10 food credits to cash to electronic equipment.Being the scavavenger that I am,I got quite a few extra coupons from my tabvlemates who weren't playing long enough to get ten coupons.

What about heat? Any concerns? I normally spread $10-$60 at single deck and $10-$80 at DD. I was thinking about keeping my max bet down to $50 until I got a feel for the place.

Big time heat at Ramada.I saw them toss someone at the table next to me and believe Ihate17 got tossed a week or two before my visit. I bet $5-25 and let a winning $25 bet ride a time or two_Once got a BJ on $25 and let the whole bet ride, but I left after it lost.
No heat elsewhere.I watched a guy spreading $25-300 at the Good Harrahs game and he wasn't being hassled.

Laughlin single deck

There is no 6 to 5 ripoff at Riverside unless it was changed in the last few weeks.

Pioneer has poor penetration and extreme sweat, essentially unplayable for more than a few red chips. Ramada Express also is sweaty, but not as bad. Golden Nugget also offers a decent single deck game but is quick to toss anyone using their brain. Play short sessions at Ramada and Nugget (less than thirty minutes per shift) and you should be OK if top bet is under $300.

Thanks for the advice friends. I stopped by the Pioneer and you were right. I had been spreading $5 - $25 for 8 minutes and the next thing I know there was a large pit critter with a cowboy hat standing behind me. There's been a few times in my short career where I've looked around to find a pit critter observing from behind, but eight minutes?

I was pretty amazed by their observation skills. At one point the guy at third base hit to a four card twenty-one and the dealer hit to a four card twenty. Dealer error called it a push and took everyone else's money. Third base wasn't paying attention. The female pit critter literally ran over from the other side of the pit and spread her arms over the table and yelled, "Wait! This is not a push." I couldn't believe it. It didn't look like she was watching other than occasional glances. It was a wierd place, and as was said, not worth stopping for.

I played more at the Golden Nugget and the Riverside. I ended up breaking even for the trip. Hoping to visit more casinos next time. The advice about keeping your sessions short was extremely useful.

Jim,
I've spread like that with zero heat.I also don't recall ever seeing a pitboss wearing a hat. Are you sure it just wasn't some nosey cowboy? What shift was it? I generally play there graveyard and the female PB usually stands by conversing with us.I've even seen her tell players that they shouldn't do something, and I've mentally agreed with her everytime.
But once you get into multiple greens, the place gets pretty unfriendly quite rapidly.
