Went through there last fall on the way to Death Valley (which is absolutely amazing...better than any BJ game out there), but didn't notice any casinos. Sure there are some?

They have 4 casinos, mostly marginal DD and 6D games. If you can find decent pen you might be able to make some money. I don't know how sweaty they are.

Low maximums and lots of sweat

The Pahrump games are worth going out of your way for. Too-low table maximums to be worth playing, and profuse sweat. Anyone playing more than a few red chips is unwelcome.

The Nugget, Terrible's, and one other whose name eludes me, something Saloon I believe. There may be others.

Thanks, Bear. I may be building a home in Pahrump in about 3 years. I hope there are more casinos by then. The population is about 35,000 now and increasing about 10% a year.

Aslan-
What draws you out there, if you don't mind me asking?

My wife has relatives in LV and we both have friends there. One nice thing about Pahrump is that it sits on a huge water aquifer (approx 22 million acre feet of water). Another is that it is virtually crime free. Pahrump has a population of 35,000 and is growing somewhere betwen 10% and 20% a year. Knowing my wife wanted to retire to the LV area, I purchased a lot in Pahrump from a friend in Fairfax, VA, sight unseen. I paid $28,000 and sold it two years later for more than double. I then purchased an acre lot for $75,000 in an area where I would want to live if I moved there.
My plan is to scour LV for an ideal place to live. I have a few areas in mind. One near or in Spanish Trails near Rainbow--One way north past the Sante Fe where they still have two acre lots--a few areas near but not in Summerlin--not to mention a few other places.
If I can't find exactly what I want, I plan to build a home on my lot in Pahrump. it's growing so fast out there I may not be driving the 60 miles to LV as often as I originally thought.
Do you currently live in the LV area?

A number of years ago (back in Commodore 64 days) I sold some computer accessories. The one and only package of mine UPS ever lost went to Pahrump.

The UPS guy probably made a detour to the Chicken Ranch bordelo and forgot all about that last delivery. They have the best lunch in town--no kidding.
