I have tipped hosts for things I thought were special. Arranging a fairly big dinner for my son and several of his friends while on his bachelor weekend in Vegas and comping it for me.
I have also gifted pits and a table game manager in a situation where I had good reason to believe it might buy me time in their casino and I believe it did.
At the same time, I do not think giving a host a gift will buy any additional time for a cardcounter if table game management has decided he should no longer be welcome to play at their casino. The host is not part of this decision.
