Does anyone know of a land based casino that still offers Faro? I've read they haven't had it in Nevada since the 80's, didn't know if it existed anywhere else.

I'm pretty sure its gone the way of the moderate republican.Extinict, defunct, just a pleasant memory. After reading how the game was played, the real question is why anyone ever played it.

I've seen a Faro layout but it was hanging on the wall of a little locals casino along with lots of other gambling memorabilia and photos. The owner did joke about maybe offering the game but he also said no one would play it for long.

The more I learn about AP I can't look at a game now without trying to devise a means of beating it. With Faro if you only bet on a card when there is one left in the deck, you are playing a push game. Find a clumped or trackable shuffle and you should beat the house. Admittedly I need to shell out for a copy of Beyond Counting as Im sure Grosjean has already put the mathematics to a lot of my theories.

Because it was legal to use a device to count the game. In fact, the casino kept the count for you:

"You don't need to be a card counter in this game. Faro has a 'casekeeper' who counts for players. He sits across the dealer and keeps track of each card played on an abacuslike device.

The casekeeper moves the abacus to note what cards were played and whether they won or lost. Observant players thus know which cards have been played and which cards remain in the deck."
