Default Have you had success asking a dealer to cut deeper?

If so, what tactics have you used?

I have asked and been successful buy stating " can you cut them a little deeper? We can play a little longer and you will not have to shuffle as much "

Works sometimes.

Every now and them i'll use the line "thin to win" right before the dealer inserts the cut card. It has worked a few times.

Cool Asking for penetration!

I have had customers ask me why do you cut so deep when I cut off more than 2 decks. The next shoe I might make it a point to cut of 1 deck. On a 6 deck shoe I will cut of an average of about 60-75 cards but I have cut of as little as 45 cards! cut of ranges from 45-140 if the shoe has been running real bad for the house the pit boss can request that I cut the shoe in half, this is rare. On single deck I might deal down to 10-13 cards left before shuffling unless I suspect you of card counting. How good of penetration do you get on 6 deck shoes and single deck.

my thot is this.. why wouldnt the dealer always give good penetration? you will get more tips because more people will win (not sure about non card counters).. what incentive do you have to give 70% pen over 80% is another way of putting it

Bob

Better pen will often result in more tips because the dealer will deal more hands per hour. The ASM though, negates that because good or bad pen you get pretty close to the same amount of hands. Pen really does not matter to non counters.

what is an asm? auto shuffle machine? you still didnt answer my question.. what incentive does the dealer have to try and thwart card counters by giving shallow penetration? he has an incentive to give deep penetration, so why doesnt he do that? i would think all dealers would do as they are told, or cut deeper, but never shallower

Default maybe

Maybe they are trying to impress management. One blackjack author, maybe Ian Andersen ? said he says to the dealer "today is my wifes 54th birthday, maybe I could get some good luck if you cut exactly 54 cards out"
Certainly worth a try. Of course always remember tokes can make a dealer happy and even cooperative.

in a counter free world casinos would make more money dealing deeper in a hand shuffled game. because more time would be spent dealing instead of shuffling.

ihate17's point is that ASMs do all the shuffling for you - which is the BULK of the time in between shoes. with an ASM you can cut off probably 50% of the cards and still deal more hands per hour than if you were only cutting off 5% in a hand shuffled game.

dealing deeper in general is better for the house for this reason.
