Residents of a northeast city neighbourhood fear an influx of cars - not sex swappers - will upset the balance of their quiet neighbourhood if a swingers club is allowed to open near 118 Avenue and St. Albert Trail.
"Some people are incensed by the morality of swingers but can't fight this on moral grounds," said Bill Quinn, 55, an Edmonton fire captain who's lived in Sherbrooke all his life.
"We respect an urban culture with a wide cross-section of lifestyles. We're fighting this on a parking issue that stands to clog our streets and jeopardize emergency response times."
Quinn was one of several residents at a recent community meeting over the proposal to open Sinclinations - a straight partner-swapping sex club - on St. Albert Trail near the 118 Avenue traffic circle.
Club proponent Kevin Gainer is hoping the city's subdivision development appeals board will grant them a "parking relaxation," after denying the group's original development request.
