Default Time to ask a simple question

Is there an abbreviation sheet handy on the site? You know some thing that defines letters like "BS" "EV" etc?

Might be handy for the newbies.

Remember if I'd found this message board a year ago it would have spared me a five hundred one day loss (since easily re couped).

Now that reminds me: How about a faq sheet specifically designed for newbies?

I mean shucks about two years ago I took my first plunge into counting. Scared my ass off which is natural. OK so i made a little money on the big shoes and thought I'd go over to the single deck.

Yeah but nobody told me that those table can only be played one on one with the dealer.

Let's try and prevent people from "learning the hard way".

Thanx

Irish

Yeah that will do. A condensed version might be more applicable but i should be able to weed through it well enough.

In fact a "sticky" thread here might help. If someone could decipher the abbreviations and put the most common ones down front and center.

It took me a little while to find the definition of "EV". I already knew it but this is such an important one that it oughta come in the top 20 or so list along with "B/S" (basic strategy) etc.

Help me out here folks: Is this guy "InPlay" the house troll?

Don't get me wrong i don't want to explicitly condemn someone's thoughts on a public forum. It's just since I'm new here I want to get the update on the all the resident weirdos.

Yes. He tried to get me to bite in a response in one of my posts, but I ignored it.

Having a bad day, InPlay?
Civility is a requirement here, though at times my enforcement may be lax. Please try to get along.

Hello Ken,

Nice to meet you.

Been playing your blackjack trainer for almost a couple years before i joined the forum a week ago.

Question: Which setting (on the blackjack strategy trainer) most closely follows the average six deck shoe WITH other players?

My guess is that since we must play your software solo only that the best thing to do is set it at four decks. I then select double any card, dealer hits soft 17, quick play etc.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "most closely follows".

I would still suggest setting the game for the actual rules and number of decks you want to mimic. The only discrepancy you get because you're playing solo rather than at a crowded table is that you get a lot more hands per shuffle. But the expected result is the same for a basic strategy player either way.
