Default Vegas - where to stay

Airfare is down, so I'm thinking about a trip to Vegas for a few days. Wondering about good places to stay. Don't need a 5 star, but my wife will be coming and she won't appreciate being in a dump. Can I find anything decent in the under $150 range... near $100 would be nicer. A suite would be nice. We'd probably want to stay near the strip even if we go downtown to play (she won't play over $5 mni.)

Also how's the weather through the Fall/Winter?

The Signature at the MGM Grand has rates of about 149 last time i checked for a junior suite. I think you also get $25 food credit as well if you check out the promotions on their site.
I'm staying at the Planet Hollywood casino resort in a week and a half and got an 89 dollar a night rate with AAA membership.

IIf you don't mind staying a block or two off the strip, the non-casino Wyndham Grand Desert usually has huge suites with kitchens for about $100 a day if you book the whole week.TI,Luxor and just about any Harrahs property go for under $100 Sunday thru Thursday.

Thanks guys. All good suggestions.

I'm also looking at The Jockey Club. Looks nice, no casino. Think I can get $170 per night for a 1br suite min 3 days. A block off the strip near the Bellagio.

Default rooms in vegas

Check hotels.com or travelocity to get an idea of room prices, then go to the hotels themselves and check the prices.

Motel 6 is real cheap
maybe Palace Station, maybe you can say hi to OJ!

try your airlines travel packages as well. I just hit Vegas last week of august, 4 nights at Mandalay Bays theHotel luxury suites with air (2 people) from minnesota for $1000. Because of the wife of course, they have a sweet beach for those non gamblers.

I'm at the Wyndham now, and it is certainly first class. I got here by trading in a timeshare I own in Florida. This is my third visit to the Wyndham, and except for the fact that I enjoy trying out different spots, I'll be back here again I'm sure. If you don't have a car (almost an absolute necessity in my opinion) they do have a shuttle to Harrah's which is central to the strip. Also, you can walk to planet hollywood, and other casinos just a bit farther from there.

You are supposed to (at least) get your room on comp. No more of this Wyndham sh*t! zg
