Default question on the casino's edge

hello to all,

I am new here. I am interested in learning Blackjack.
Just a quick question:

the more decks used the more advantage to the dealer.
what happens if the dealer shuffles 8 decks but cut it in half?

does it divide the edge by 2 ? (like if the casino was using only 4 decks?)
even though there is not a lot of difference, what strategy chart to use in the case of split decks? (8 decks or 4 decks chart?)

as per card counting systems: I think I'll start learning the Hi-Lo (apparently a good choiec for beginners). when converting to true count, shall I divide by 8 or 4 (if deck split in 1/2) ??

where can I find information on the Betting index? (apparently when the true count > betting index, the player has an edge on the casino)

thanks!
A.

Unfortunately no. Since all 8 decks are being shuffled together it doesn’t matter how many get cut off, the house edge is still the same as if they play them all. The theoretical probabilities of getting each card are the same even if they only deal half of them.

yes, get into blackjack and read different articles on random aspects, and you should enjoy it.. i prefer reading an authors take on basic strategy over reading a novel, even tho once uve read one chapter on bs, uve read them all.. also, you divide by how many decks are left, and round down, so do this.. look at the discard rack and if you estimate there are 2.5 decks left, then just call it 2, and do 8-2=6 (if its 8 deck), so you would divide the running count by 6
