Wink Sage Blackjack simulator

I have been playing with a software called "Sage Blackjack simulator", I think it is about ten years old, but it seems really good. The only thing I don't like about it is that you can't choose the bankroll you start off with.

I just tried my first time counting cards with it, as it plays exactly like the games at my local casino (after changing a few settings). I used the plus minus count, with blackjackinfos strategy guide in the corner of my screen.

I think I counted properly and I did a loose divide in my head with the amount of decks left.

The first shuffle my count was constantly in the minus. The second shuffle I kept playing minimum bets until my count was at least plus ten for all the cards (about 4 decks left by the time I was plus ten, plays with six decks). The funny thing was though, when I was doing the minimum flat bets until I could figure out the count, my chip pile was going up. But when my count reached and then kept hovering around plus 15 and I upped my bets, I started losing money.

I thought that plus 15 even with around four decks left was enough of a positive count to start winning. I was playing by myself, no computers, so it took a long time, but I think my head would have exploded if I had to count OTHER peoples hands too.

So, was I counting wrong, betting wrong or is is this ten year old blackjack simulator not a good reflection of a real game?

i've got that simulator. i like it. haven't used it in quite a while but i believe you can adjust your bankroll with it.
an RC of 15 at 4 decks left is a good count giving you a true count of four.
definately a good time to raise your wager. problem is a count that good doesn't necessarily mean you will win more hands. it means you are in a good position to have successful double downs, splits, blackjacks as well as successful insurance bets. unfortunately those don't always pan out and since you are wagering more then your loss's mount up faster. so you weren't wrong to bet more just unfortunate in that your wagers didn't pan out this time. the likelyhood is that next time around or so at similar counts that you'll get some of those successful doubles, splits, blackjacks and insurance bets.
