Default Would you tell the dealer?

So, let's say you stand on hard 18 vs dealer 3, and the dealer gets 5-4-A-3-3, up to 19. You feel sad because you lost and the dealer collects the player chips. However, when he sees your hand, he knock on the table and continue collecting the game. He then collects the cards from everywhere. In other words, he miscounted his hand and thought he has 18.

Would you tell him? Would you tell him "Sir, I got 18, you got 19"? I mean, if the management review the tapes, he could get in trouble or fired?

So, if the dealer makes a mistake, do you tell him? Even if it means you losing money?

Depends how big my bet was

I probably would, if only to save myself the embarrassment of not pointing it out for when he realizes his mistake.

But if it was a big bet, I think I just wouldn't touch the chips at all, heck I might even add another chip to that bet for the next hand just to distract him from his mistake.

Actually I would feel so guilty I would point it out, if it came to it.

Ngghhhhhh, why do you put these moral dilemmas in my head, I feel guilty already and I haven't even done it yet

What're you crazy? Take advantage of dealer mistakes like that! It's not your fault the dealer can't add! Just make sure you catch the mistakes that are in the houses favor, as they happen just as often!

Earlier this year in Las Vegas I was dealt a natural on a hand, and the dealer paid me right away and scooped up my cards. I took my winnings and just left my original bet in the circle. Everyone else played their hands, dealer played his, and busted. He goes around and pays everyone, including me (again)! I didn't say anything and just took the money. Nothing like getting paid 5:2 on a blackjack!

First off, this is not uncommon at all and to each his own but I don't say a word. The odds that the house will review the tape are miniscule. If you point it out, they are more likely to get involved and see the mistake. You are probably helping the dealer more by not saying anything. Just my $0.02.

Not likely they'll ever review the tape unless someone questions a payout etc.

Don't blame you, but that's why many dealers ask you topull your bet back after a natural. Just as likely to TAKE your bet as pay you again.

I've had it happen a few times and I said nothing, although I felt guilty. Then, when a dealer tried to short-change me $45, I felt vindicated. I have seen dealers knock on others' losing hands, and at least once I suspected the player was a friend of the dealer from a fleeting, knowing glance they exchanged.

One dealer paid me when I had a losing hand, and afterwards I had the feeling that he might be looking for a tip for this unsolicited service. I tipped him $5. I guess I cheated, but it was not premeditated, and I don't really know that he did it on purpose. Now I feel bad.

It shouldn't ever happen, but after a 7 hour shift I couldn't blame them. The dealer should ignore all bets except the bets with cards still in front of them.

I wonder if after a while the chips stop being money to the dealers and just turn into coloured candy rings, wouldn't they lose their value if you see and handle thousands of them everyday? They do stay on edge, they are very serious about dropping a chip or when someone buys a lot of chips, but still...

Oh hell no. If the dealer makes a mistake, that is his problem, i would not say a word. And in the end, if they do find out somehow, you will not get in trouble at all, it is the dealers fault. Also, something similiar happened to me about a month ago while playing blackjack. Well, i was there with a coulpe of friends, and got a hard 18 with 25 bucks out. The dealer ended up getting 17, but mistakengly took my money, at first i did not notice it because i was talkng with friends. I only noticed it when he was about to take my cards, and as soon as he got to me, i stopped him immediately because i had realized he had taken my chips by mistake. At this point, i merely point it out to him that i got 18 and i won, but he took my money by mistake. Well, he then calls the pitboss over to tell her the situation, and she askes me how much i had out. I blurted out 50 bucks. I do not know why i said 50, it just kind of came out. Anyways, once i said it, she asked the dealer if it was possible that he took my bet by mistake, and he said yes. So then ended up giving me 100 bucks! I made an extra unit like that. Hm, but i wonder if they would have reviewed the tape, would i have gotten in trouble for lieing about the amount i had out?
