Default Police clock British man driving at 172 mph

Rental car worker jailed for 10 weeks after breaking record in Porsche

LONDON - A rental car worker who was clocked at 172 mph in his company’s Porsche was ordered jailed Monday for 10 weeks.
Tim Brady, 33, who was caught Jan. 27, became the fastest speeder ever convicted in Britain. He beat the previous record — 156 mph — set by car dealer Jason McAllister in 2003.
Brady was caught driving the $198,000 Porsche 911 Turbo, which he took from his employer, luxury car rental firm HelpHire PLC, authorities said.

Brady had nagged his boss to take the Porsche out the day before, but was repeatedly told no, authorities said.
Judge David Morton called the act “criminally self-indulgent.”
“(You were) utterly thoughtless of the danger you might be creating for the innocent,” he told Brady.
Brady, who admitted to dangerous driving, was banned from driving for three years and will have to take a new driving test before taking to the road again.
He quit his job a day after he was caught.

a classmate of mine once told me he was doing 115 on the expressway, and the cop told him that had he kept going, the cop wouldnt have caught him, so if thats the case, i would surely think 175 would be fast enuf also.. btw, here in the usa, if you were caught doing 190 on a RESIDENTIAL street (not possible but just an example) you wouldnt get a hard of penalty as that guy got

I'm a little surprised that a cop can't get up to 115 with those Interceptors...especially if it was a trooper. If he was going double the speed limit, he'd be lucky to still have a license.

Default the fastest police car I know of can hit 1100MPH

It is called the police radio - here they never chase high speed - they radio and use piper cubs and helicopters . Much more safer !!!

not sure where you live, but here in the states (at least illinois), you wont get your license taken away for speeding, unless you get several in a short period, or are doing like 90 in a school zone on a school day (hilarious).. 115 on the expressway isnt fast by any means.. most people are doing 75, so its not big deal.. fastest ive ever gone was like 115 in a '97 malibu.. my current car is limited at 104 which is bullshit seeing as how it has 205 hp

Fair enough. It says I live in "PA" on my header...hope you know that it is a "state" I used to live in Ohio and there was (maybe still is) some sort of law about getting caught doubling the speed limit and suspension of license.

And if 115 on the expressway isn't fast, then why can't the cops go that fast?!? Sounds like your buddy is a tall-tale expert.

its not about top speed, its about acceleration.. also, people overestimate what cop cars can do, they are still near 4000 lb vehicles, and probably take about 8 seconds to hit 60 (not fast), even after they are tweaked with, and probably cant do more than 130, nor would they.. why would my "friend" lie? the cop simply said he wouldnt have caught him if he kept going.. think about it, if the cops car can do lets say 125, and he is doing 115, and by the time the cop is able to pull onto the expressway, he will already be a half mile ahead, and now the cop needs to take probably 20 seconds to get up to 125, etc..
