A trip to Philadelphia Park

In case you're not familiar with it, Philadelphia Park is one of the new slot parlors in PA. Recently they added electronic Blackjack, so it got me curious as to what the rules really were. Also, they had a $25 signup bonus, so wife and I each got to play slots for $25. I wound up winning about $7 and she won $15. Wow

They had several stations of Shufflemaster electronic blackjack, with min bets ranging from $5 to $25. Rules were poor - H17, no resplitting, double any two, not sure about DAS (does it matter at this point?) It used 6 decks and reshuffles after every hand. I'm surprised Blackjack paid 3:2 and not 6:5. What a joke!

Getting back to the slots. I've NEVER seen a decent-sized casino have just about every slot machine seat taken like this was. It was unbelievable. In the parking lot, most of the plates were from PA, but a fair number of NJ and NY plates, too. If today was a typical day, the AC casinos are in BIG trouble.

I was there a couple months ago on a Saturday and it was fairly crowded, but not overbearing. Everything I won the ponies was lost at the slots, but the purpose of the day was to entertain myself with something different, not to make money. Imagine how much of a dent would be put into AC if and when PA decides to legalize table games.

Could be useful for hustling comps. That's about it, though.

If comp hustling was the goal, I'd rather go to Harrah's Chester. At least there you can build up points to be used at other Harrah's properties. They just don't have the electronic tables yet.

Harrahs chester does indeed have the electronic blackjack tables now. Same crappy rules as philadelphia park. Also on a weekend night it is a madhouse.

While i agree that it is probably hurting the AC casinos i'm not sure it is as much as some may think.

many times when i have gone to harrahs chester i would not have went to atlantic city if harrahs was not there, i'll explain.

Harrahs chester is 35 minutes from my house atlantic city is 1 hour and 10 minutes.

My wife and I went there on a wednesday night 2 weeks ago for 3 hours or so. We went there because it is close, if harrahs chester was not there we would not have driven to atlantic city on a weeknight. Or some friday nights we have gone there for a few hours.

So for me at least it is not neccesarrily an AC substitute but just a place to go and donk off some slot money here and there. Now as for serious slot players i'm not sure.

I-95 over Labor Day.

I wondered how real the game is, but the rules sound terrible.
