Cherokee - Harrah's - Where to Stay?

We're planning on spending a night in Cherokee next month to play some BJ at Harrah's there.

We will not be staying in the Hotel at the Casino - too high priced for us.

So, does anybody know anything about either the Ramada Limited or Holiday Inn Express. Both say they are right across the street from Harrah's.

We stayed at the Ramada about 5 years ago and it was nice, clean - nothing fancy - affordable. I think it was also very new at that time. Maybe < 2 years old.

I've been told the Holiday Inn Express is about 2 years old and is nice, clean, etc. I've read good reviews online.

Just wondering if anyone in here has any experiences with either of these.
We just want a decent cheap place to stay in walking distance.

Both are $69/night on the night we want to stay (Sun Night).

haven't any advice on the hotels but i'm afraid your going to be disappointed with the blackjack they have to offer.

The Ramada is fine...and yes, it is RIGHT across the street. Don't know much about the Holiday Inn, but it can't be bad.

I agree about the bj game at Harrahs. It is a computerized shoe . According to the pit boss. It is 6 decks and they play 3 decks deep. There was one 10 dollar table the lowest and a line to play at it. We played at a 15 dollar table and burned through a hundred fairly quickly and I was not going to risk any more. The pit boss says the game is regulated, but I don't trust the computer. I won't go back. Also the casino is in a dry county. A free drink might have made the game a little more fun. We were camping, so I can't say much about accomodations.

Not only that, it's on the Cherokee Reservation...and alcohol is not sold there.

But yes, the area is nice to camp at (used to live on the other side of the mountains for a few years).

Z-Man Go west young Man, Go West until you get to the Great State of Miss. Where the BJ is good and the comps are easy to get.

Don't even bother playing there. computerized blackjack, the comps seemed like they took forever to earn anything. There wasn't much more than the casino in the area... I only went there when it was my only option.

Go west to MS or North to Cincinnati... the conditions at the MS casinos are some of the best in the country.

But if you really wanna spend time in the Smoky Mountains... sitting staring at cards on a video screen is not my version of a Smoky Mountain vacation.

Location-Location-Location

We live near Atlanta and are going on a trip to Indianapolis. It just so happens that we can stop in Cherokee and spend a night on our way back home without going far out of the way. I think it's less than 50 miles out of the way.

So, for this trip, MS is out of the question.

Yeah, the BJ isn't ideal, but in my mind it's better than nothing.
You have a live 'dealer', and real chips, so I don't think it's THAT big of a deal. So what if the cards are on a monitor instead of real cards on the felt.
Maybe I'll have a different opinion after I've tried it.

Regulated? Not sure what that means. I DO wonder if the cards are truly random. It would be easy for it to be 'fixed' or 'rigged' to the casino's advantage. But if that were the case would enough people really play it?

Alcohol? Yep, you can't get a drink in the casino . Maybe that's why I want a hotel that is close! Walk to the room, have a couple o' drinks and back to the table.

I won over $2K at Harrah's Cherokee a few years ago. We took a family trip to the Natl Park and stayed there a couple of nights. This was in my pre-counting days, so just got some positive variance. Wasn't particularly crowded at the time.
