Last time I was out there was about 5 weeks ago...Borgata is probably the most consistent house for decent BJ. Otherwise, we played quite a while at Resorts (not too bad), but got a lot of craps in at Taj. BJ was crappy at Taj unless you are a high roller.

Anywhere you find deep pen. There's no substitute for walking around and seeing who is cutting where.

Agreed. It can vary from dealer to dealer, day to day. For example, recently I've seen some decent games at Harrahs (high roller pit 6D, $25 min) with one dealer cutting off 3/4 deck, and dealer at the next table cutting off 1.5 decks. Similar at Caesars and Ballys - 8D games with some dealers cutting 1D, others cutting 2+.

A year ago Showboat had the best 6D game in AC (pen 1D consistently in high roller pit.) 6 months ago they did an about face and made it all H17 and lousy pen.

Claridge used to be 8D H17 games. Last week, they were S17 with decent pen (though not many BJ tables there.)

this is why i dont think its right when people say "they cut off X at Y casino", because its never exact, and it could be the dealers or whatever, so i think the rules are the most important, as they are the most consistent, and you just have to wing it for penetration.. now if they are cutting off more than 2 decks on 6 deck, then chances are you wont find 1.5 there

I think that some dealers are also APs and feel sympathetic toward counters. Or maybe they are trying to get better tips, but I see them going out of their way to give good pen. Others, you'd think they owned the joint the pen is so bad.

Is there a way to see what each casino if offering for blackjack each day.(decks/rules) I just hate walking in and walking out because I see a $25 min and do not have BR for that. I've searched but have yet to find something useful.

i found the opposite in my short counting career.. i talk about counting at the table with other players sometimes, and the dude started cutting off 2+ decks, and its like, dude do you think your cool? he had this look on his face like watch this.. i told him to cut off what he is supposed to cut off, and he then cuts off probably 2.3 decks, and im like i thot it was 1.5, and hes like "its at least 1.5".. of course i was playing 40% of my hands as usual, and not tipping, but thats besides the point, because i dont think tipping would help, and im not going to tip him, because im playing at roughly $1/hr, so i would essentially be playing a dead even game for the next 5 hours.. i tell people (not at the table) that they dont realize how bad tipping is.. of course if your betting $20+ and playing at a 2% edge (- or +, dont matter), then i guess throwing him a white every 20 minutes or so isnt bad

What would you do? You're a dealer, you're dealing a table and some young kid rolls up and starts talking about how he's counting cards. I'm assuming that you didn't just sit there and say it in a non-bragging or "know it all" fashion since in many other posts you've said that you talk about counting so the ploppys know how much knowledge of blackjack you have. I personally woud make the conditons so shitty that said counter would leave and never come back, ever again.

Imagine if 2 people looked equally dirt poor and went into a convience store. Guy A trys to shoplift some food and not make a huge scene..maybe the cashier feels bad and lets him go. Guy B goes in and says "I know how to cheat this store, I know how to shoplift!" well, you know how it goes...

When I hear someone tell me he's counting, I treat it just like someone who tells me he's in the Mafia or a CIA secret agent. He isn't.

What worries me is when someone tells me that I'm counting, and that has happened a few times. Someone who both can recognize a counter and talks about it at the table is not my friend.

i have had a dealer or two i could swear is counting and saying things such as "you always bet big after the dealer gets a blackjack"...."you need to stack those chips up you are on a roll"...."everyone table max, lets get some action going here".....and for the most part are right on with their assumingly "ploppy" attitude. Although these dealers dont always match my count, more often then not they are close to the situations i would be...maybe a 1-4 bet spread, not table max...but seriously...im thinking of one guy in particular where i started to act like i was taking his advice because he was basically on the count with me i figured...and i took maybe 20 units on one 2D shuffle.

it would be a lot easier if they just said, "sir, im a pro, bet now" :laugh:

apparently you guys are confused.. i dont sit down and start bragging, and i have never called myself a pro or anything, and have admitted to people i get friendly with next to me that im not that good and cant do the true count real quick.. i only mention it when im being attacked by everybody at the table and they are telling me to stop jumping in and out and such.. i just say "im not gonna play when im at a disadvantage" or something like that.. seriously, i dont think im super cool cuz i can count cards.. when i played BS, i did the same type of thing, i told them all that they dont know what they are talking about, and doing such and such doesnt negatively affect your chances..

ive said in other posts that i cant sit there and be insulted by idiots, i just cant.. i have seen elderly people verbally attacked at the tables, and thats ****ed up, so anytime i hear somebody use ploppy logic, i set them straight and ask them where they got their information and such, but i have gotten better at ignoring them unless they really start going nuts.. the other week, this lady kept mumbling insult at me for like 5 minutes straight, and when i told her to go read a book on blackjack, and to stop blaming others for her gambling problem, she shut up.. when i first played bs back in 2006, i used to kind of be a know it all, but now i dont give advice unless asked, and i only go on the defense, never the offense

Everyone who plays BS blackjack knows they are at a disadvantage so why would you be playing any of the hands...you count. And if you start throwing out max bets and winning, you might be asked to leave. Don't even bother losing out because of someone else.

my top bet is currently $10, and in the future i may get it to $20, but you will never see me winning $500 in a session or anything, so i think im fine.. on the other hand, if i get booted, it sure would sound stupid to be like, ya but i got to tell a bunch of people i count and that they are ploppies! yay
