Default NFL week 8

Forgot to start a new thread for this week.

Patriots -16.5 at home vs. Redskins. The Patriots are awesome this season, and they're at home.

Over 48 Patriots v. Redskins for 2-3 bets. The combined total of these teams is 60.2. The Redskins offense is a little below average for the league, but their quarterback is getting progressively better. Patriots might make the over on their own.

Browns at Rams, -3. You know who sucks? The rams. No defense, no offensive line. Jackson will be back, but no one will block for him. The Browns passing game has been great so far.

Lions at Bears, +210. The Lions won the first matchup, and somehow, miraculously, they ran the ball last week. Chicago's defense has not been themselves, and we all know how bad the offense is.

somebody where i work bet me $100 the bears will win the division, and the only catch is that if the lions or vikings win the division, its a draw, so i easily took that bet, and in fact wanted him to go to $200.. the problem with this is as a packers fan, i want the bears to win this week so that the packers can keep their 1 game lead or get a 2 game lead on the division, so im not sure who to cheer for.. i guess its a double edged sword.. do i want the packers to win the division, or do i want to win $100 and laugh at the bears? are the lions a threat to the packers? this is driving me nuts, but im leaning towards the lions because 1. i hate the bears, 2. i want $100, 3. if the bears lose and the packers win, the bears are out of the division race, and i guess its better to have "the worst 4-2 team ever" on your ass than 2 teams being in your mirror.. if you guys were packers fans, which would you choose given the facts, and given that you only have $2000 in your bank?

The Lions have probably the 3rd-4th best passing offense in the NFL. Last game they finally got the run going, and if they can establish even a mediocre running game and a bend-don't-break defense, they could easily win the division. The Packers have a better defense, by far, but the offense isn't as good, and they both suck at running. I personally took a long odds prop on the Lions to make the Super Bowl. They are definitely a stronger team than they get credit for. Let's not forget how weak the NFC is, either.

The Lions CAN definitely beat the Bears this weekend...as long as they can get over their tendency to play like crap on the road.

You cant win unless the packers win is basically what you bet? I wouldnt have taken that bet. But i wouldve taken the bet straight up that the bears wouldnt win the division.

I'm changing my pick in the Patriots game. I prefer the moneyline at -1600, rather than the spread.

Moneyline moved to -1400 on the Pats game, and I like it even more now (spread moved to 16).

This isn't NFL, but I like OSU at Penn State -3.5 +104 at Pinnacle. My initial thoughts on this were -9.5 OSU, but it is a rain game, so I'd put it around 7.5 or 7. OSU has the best running game in the country (close to 300 yards a game) and arguably the best defense in the country. They also have a strong passing attack and good special teams. Penn State's offense has been awful this year, and the defense isn't nearly as good as OSU. OSU is clearly the better team, and the only reason for the line is the fact that it's a home game, and Penn State has played OSU tough in the past. If this was played at Ohio Stadium, the line would be -20 OSU. In the interest of full disclosure, I am an Ohio State fan, so it's possible that my judgment is clouded...

Half time and the Pats have covered the over to this point by themselves...maybe if the redskins show up, the over will be a solid bet

4th Qtr: So the pats covered the over themselves...how sad is that, except for moo ...so moo, how much would my 10K bet have paid off on the over?
