50% penetration is pretty bad. It's beatable, but it's usually not worth trying to count a game like that. If the game is S17 then you will have a better chance but you will still need a big bet spread and a big bankroll to earn any decent money. If the casino offers a 6D game it is probably better than the DD game with 50% penetration.

We need more details. If you can get away with a large enough betting spread, you can beat almost any game. You can probably get a decent edge aggressively spreading 1-6 or 1-8 in that game, but at most 2 deck games that will get you backed off eventually.

thanks for the info sonny, knew the pen was bad and like you said had to spread from 25 to 250 to do any good, bankroll was only 7500, broke even at end, 4days at casino. will try 6 deck next next time, seemed like i allways lost on any count above + 4 but seemed to win a lot of neg counts. 3 handed seemed to be the best. any more ideas how to increase my winning % or like you said play 6d and forget the 2d. thanks

With a $7,500 bankroll your max bet would be closer to $60 or $75 to have a 5% risk of ruin. A $250 max bet will bring it closer to 75%, which only gives you a 25% chance of not going bankrupt. If the DD game allows mid-shoe entry then you can make it a little better by Wonging around, otherwise the 6D game will probably give you more opportunities to find good counts.

Also, playing 3 hands can burn through the cards pretty quickly. It’s usually better to play just 2, or even 1 if you are playing by yourself.
