Default NY Quickdraw

NY lotter has this quickdraw game, which is basically keno played in bars, bowling alleys, delis, etc. Description and pay tables are here: http://www.nylottery.org/ny/nyStore/...vRoot_300.htm?

They have a promotion going now where tickets purchased between 6 and 8 pm on Thursdays are worth 50% more. If this is the case it seems like it would have a player advantage. Thoughts?

Not even close.Instead of playing at a 50% disadvantage, you are now playing at a 25% disadvantage.

I just cranked out all the numbers for a 4 spot game with the NY pay table. Without the bonus in effect, the game carries a whopping 40% house edge!

WITH the bonus in effect, it is a 10.4% house edge. In other words, like playing a slot machine.

I've never played the game (or any keno for that matter) because I've always known the house edge to be high. I guess I had figured the NY game to have a 10 or 15% house edge to begin with and the 50% more might eliminate that. I never imagined it would have a 40% house edge though! Guess there's a reason I only play blackjack......

From 40% to 10.4%? That's almost 75% better and it still sucks! Well, I guess it still beats raising taxes.
