Default new to counting

just recently started counting cards using the KO system, been practicing with up to 3 decks at home or with casino verite software. the best place i have found a shoe game with a reasonable min bet for my limit is at a charity casino in ontario. the table i was playing at was min 10 max 100, 8 decks, Double any 2, DAS, penetration was about 70%. the basic strategy chart i got says house edge is .47% for this game. do you guys think this is a good place to play? im going to keep practicing and improving my play before i really try this out. i already have had basic strategy memorized for a while now, and i realize i gotta start counting if i ever wanna have an advantage.

8 deckers are brutal. Wong out of all negative counts and learn to table hop. Backcounting two tables at once will improve your chances. Shouldn't need to worry about heat at that level. You can also spread to two or three hands to get more money on the table in positive expectation.

that was the original plan, but its a pretty small place, i just didnt want to attract too much attention, it was during the day and not too busy. so i just flat betted and raised in good counts.

8 decks with that kinda penetration will give you poor hourly winnings even if you spread 10 to one, i play ac all the time and play very agressive spread of 10-1 where i bet max anytime the count is +4 or higher, i do this to offset the rareity of high counts. i also do this while playing one hand at losing counts and two hands at winning counts effectivly raising my betting spread, all the while only winning 12$ per hour of real world winnings on 10-100$ bets. its so tough that i have decided to move to 25$ tables instead. Im in it for the money though not he fun its still totally preactical to play one spot spreading 10-1 and make 6 bucks an hour if your in it for the fun of it.

Bottom line its beatable but only with a large or moderately large bet spread, also your average hourly winning would be around 3$ (playing 10-1) if you dont memorize deviations as well, insurance being the most important one.

Its also not the best game in the world thats available for 8 deck games, id say its slightly below average. Try shopping around at different dealers, you can probibly find one doing better than that, unless theres a notch in the shoe, sometimes they use notches to guid the cutcard to a predetermined place.
