The Bear Growls, the Stratosphere welches
The Bear Growls: Stratosphere welches on payment to winning patron

The Wizard of Odds was recently victimized by an unethical sportsbook manager at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas. Here is a link to the Wizard’s comments:
http://wizardofodds.com/casinos/vegasblacklist.html
Shame on the Stratosphere for using this excuse to stiff a patron. Shame on the Nevada Gaming Control Board for letting casinos get away with arbitrary “expiration dates” of sportsbetting tickets. Assuming what the Wizard wrote is accurate, I think we can put Patrick Rethore in the same category as the creeps who run the Wynn sportsbook. Wynn’s sportsbook has stiffed at least one winner using the “expired ticket” excuse. Terrible’s has done the same. Planet Hollywood now admits that “intelligent bettors” (the exact words of one of its employees) are not allowed to bet there. Stratosphere and its related properties have adopted a similar policy.

It's time to teach some of these extortionary scumbags a lesson.

Does the casino even get to keep the money? In NY,unpaid lottery and horse racing tickets go to the state where the owners can try to reclaim them.I'd be surprised if Nevada let the casinos have the money, when other states won't.In AC,the TITO have no expiration dates, but after a year you need go to a special window.

A lesson to us all- treat the fine print on any gaming instrument just as seriously as we treat the Terms & Conditions for an online bonus, if we want to get paid.
When we are hustling a bonus or a promotion, we expect the casino to abide by every jot and tittle of what they have written, and they are going to do the same to us. Shame of the Stratosphere for having such terms and for treating a customer like that, though. They seems like the kind of store that's always ready to implode anyway, I wouldn't walk out of there without cashing anything.

That sucks, but why the hell didn't he cash it sooner? That's $2600, not $50...

What a stupid person! He does not read the ticket and is crying about it later. This guy may be good with math and offer an informative site but he obviously has no other smarts about him. When he bought the ticket he entered into a contract with them that was clearly printed on the back of the ticket. He did not follow that contract and he is wrong. Now he wants to cry about it all over the Internet like the a little girl. I understand that people want to support him because he has a site with helpful information but that makes the supporters stupid too. He screwed up and that is his problem of being an idiot and not reading the fine print as they say. Quit crying over the spilled milk and deal with it.

I also find the Wiz's blacklist to be a bit parochial.
