Bringing Down The House (21)
Is the part played by Kevin Spacey in real life Johnny Chang?

1988 WSOP champ etc etc.
Kevin Spacey is playing whoever that guy is that taught the MIT team in the early 90s. His real name is never used in any books or tv shows i've watched...anyone know who it is for real?

I've always heard him referred to as "Mr. M," but I don't know his actual name. He was a mathematics professor at MIT in the early 1990s, but I believe that he has since moved on to other things.

I believe the character of “Micky Rosa” was a combination of JP Massar (Mr. M) and John Chang (not the poker player from Rounders), two of the original founders of the first successful MIT team.

Also, there will be a few cameo appearances in the film. Bill Kaplan, the guy who trained them and taught them how to play successfully (and one of the original team founders), will be in the background of the “Chinatown Casino” scene (or as I call it, the "Winner winner chicken dinner" scene). Also, the kid who the main character “Kevin Lewis” is based on (I don’t think his real name has been outed yet so I won’t mention it) will be playing a BJ dealer. The DVD will also have lots of interviews with the director, actors and writers.

It looks like Jeff is officially out. He gives his real name in the credits of the movie but I wasn’t sure if it was public information yet. Look for him in some of the Las Vegas scenes towards the end.

I've seen pictures of Jeff Ma in the newspaper doing interviews admitting he was Kevin Lewis and promoting some business venture he has called Pro Trade so its ok to mention him by name.
