Default Reference program released

I am releasing a 15 day trial of the full version of my program cdca (Composition Dependent Combinatorial Analyzer) to replace the demo that was limited to single deck computations. This program shows one end of the blackjack spectrum: the best possible expected values for any specific shoe state. Of course it is humanly impossible to play perfect blackjack in a casino using every bit of available information, but the program can do it. The program is a reference tool for those wanting access to this type of information. I recently had a request from an Advanced Probabilities student who had downloaded the single deck demo and wanted a full version to do some calculations for use in a term paper on blackjack theory. I agreed to furnish a full version and had some email correspondence with her. In one email she said, "I think your program is great and just what I have been looking for doing analysis of the game. There are a lot of simulators out there but not much for analysis of the game like this...."

Obviously, I'm trying to earn a little money but I hope the program will prove to be a useful reference tool as well. Anyone can download the trial from my web site, http://www.bjstrat.net/cdca_info_download.html.

I can pretty much guarantee the source code would generate a big headache and at 3:2 odds that's an EV of 1.5 headaches.

I think I could create a .dll that could be used, for example, from within Excel using VBA. I know how to access a .dll using VBA/Excel but don't know how to input data into Excel and manipulate it using VBA.

I'm the opposite. I don't know about .dlls, but I can program Excel to do just about anything. Unfortunately, trying to collaborate via PM might also be +EV for headaches.

1) Record a macro.
2) Examine the macro.
3) Edit the macro to make it do something slightly different.
4) Make extensive use of Help (F1).

And you're on your way. That's how I got started, anyway.

Default Download to fix error

Due to an error on my part, the menu item under Options to 'Display EV conditioned on no dealer BJ' was missing. There is a new download that fixes this. Click Download cdca Version 1 toward bottom of page. If the erroneous version is uninstalled through Control Panel and the new one installed, I believe it will reset the trial period to 15 days and make the menu item available as it should have been in the first place. Clicking this item toggles the option on and off. Without it, it is stuck at on.
