A more suitable comparison would be to point out similarities between the GOP and the nazi party. Or the KKK. Both include members of each.
The presdient for one. His family fortune came in part from the gold fillings of dead jewish people. Prescott Bush supported hitler financially. Even during WWII.
No "Communists" among my Democratic party friends.

The Democrat Party is the traditional party of the KKK. In their original charter, Republicans are not allowed. The only national politician known to have been a member of the KKK is Sen Robert Byrd (D-WV). George Wallace, Bull Connor, Al Gore Sr. and all of those great segregationists were Democrats. All of the opposition to civil rights in the Congress in the 60's came from Democrats.
Nazis: Neither major US party was distinctively represented in the Nazis. American Nazis in the 30's and 40's were mostly German immigrants in the Midwest and were members of the Socialist/Populist parties like DFL and LaFollette's Progressives. Most of the ones who were not stripped of their citizenship and deported remained in socialistic movements in the US which eventually were enveloped by the Democrat Party.
Communists: All national politicians known to have ties to US or foreign Communist parties and leaders from the 40's to the 60's have been Democrats. All politicians who supported the Viet Cong were Democrats. All politicians who have supported Castro have been Democrats. All of the politicians today who have supported Hugo Chavez have been Democrats.
Does this mean all Democrats are Communists- certainly not. JFK was not a Communist and was the last successful Democrat President. But all of the aid and comfort given to the Communist enemy in the US comes from the direction of the Democrat Party.
