WSOP affects conditions?

I had a couple of dopey poker players at a local satellite event betting big and playing badly at my table... does that count?

I had a striking realization late one night at Binions, back in '99, that some
of the world's best poker players were some of BJ's worst. zg

i assume you mean crowding conditions. i was just there for almost the last two weeks and the "minor" WSOP events were going on - everything but the main no limit 10k championship. i'd peg conditions at the BJ tables in terms of crowds similar to other times ive been there. in fact, this was the least crowded i have seen vegas BJ tables as far as i remember. excellent opportunities for heads up play or play with one other person at a table. i did stop by a few of the offstrip and north strip casinos, and believe it or not they and their BJ tables were more crowded than places like MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay (or any of the other big strip names). probably has to do with the fact that they are cheaper and thus filling their rooms easier these days, and ploppies usually just play where they stay.

in terms if table limits available, $25 was available everywhere on and off strip, with some $10-15 tables available on weekdays during day shift (as you would expect). some of the best games i found on my trip were at $10 or $15 minimum tables... obviously higher table limits were plentiful as well at the big places.

And to be fair, I'm a pretty good blackjack player, but a horrible poker player.
Every time I sit down at a poker table, I keep my eyes open, looking around for the sucker in the group. I've never found him yet! :joker:

Yes, absolutely. You will pay a higher room rate (or find less availability), plus table minimums will go up and there will be huge lines at the poker room.

However, if you do manage to get a seat at a poker table, you'll find that there's a horrendously awesome number of wannabes who feel the urge to play Sammy Farha at the $4/$8 limit tables. I was in Vegas during a WPT event; the fish were fishier than normal.

The blackjack conditions seemed to be completely unaffected at the $25+ level, although the $10 tables were more crowded than usual.
