Default Doubling for more, but actually for less

Hey guys,

I remember awhile back asking about doubling and how to double for more, and someone brought up:

"Put a larger bet next to your original bet when the dealer isn't looking, and say 'Double for Less'"

I like this idea, but I mean it is cheating is it not? What if you get caught?

Thanks,

David

Are you sure? What if it's an "honest mistake"?

ignorance is no defense against breaking the law. you could have known or should have known as lawyers like to say lol.
but a jury might let you off lightly in the penalty phase if you can convince them you just screwed up.

This is funny!! I've never tried and prob. never will as it would bring on some serious heat if they want. I can see it now, the eye in the sky is watching you, the count is +8 and you double for more and the dealer busts you. That might get you actually 86'd before getting banned lol.

Since you're asking how to get away with it, it can't possibly be an honest mistake, can it?

your right. i suppose it's a fine line sort of thing. or some sort of blurry almost impossible to put your thumb on ethical issue. at least it is for me. maybe in a sense the casino shares as much responsibility or even more for such an event. they know or should know that their patrons can be virtualy completely ignorant of their rules and regulations. they see it all the time, like you know some ploppy touching the cards or what ever. so if they don't take action in some way to protect both themselves and their innocent patrons then it could be construed as them crossing some blurry legal or ethical line.

It's not illegal to place a bet - the casino policy / staff decide what bets they're willing to accept. If they're stupid enough to accept a double for more, more fool them. That shows their pit isn't particularly strong at adhering to the rules.

Could it get you banned from playing? Yes, potentially, but I think that's pretty unlikely in reality - unless you were doing it regularly and for big sums. The danger is that you might be seen to be "colluding" with the dealer. They could certainly lose their job in any case: they're either aiding cheating, or they're just stupid and don't know how to deal. Either way, that's not a good thing for their profession.
