Is there anything decent in Reno/Lake Tahoe?
Good Morning Everyone, I Just got a free charter flight to Reno/Lake Tahoe for 3 Nights, and Transportation, and a couple shows from Harrah's. But I was looking at the blackjack Rules in Reno, and I didnt see one game where the dealer stands on ALL 17's...Is there any good games in Reno/Tahoe? Im Trying to decide to take advantage of this trip or not. If there isnt any decent games i wont go.
Write back
Thanks!

The games in and around Reno provide among the best rules in the country, S17 or no. You seem to be fixated on the S17 rule without looking at the bigger picture, i.e. THE SINGLE DECK. While the s/h-17 rule, it in reality, has the effect of .19% HA, the inherent advantage of SD alone has the advantage of .26% over even DD, not to mention shoe games. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. There are currently a half dozen clubs in Reno/ Sparks that offer DOA, viz. Siena, Fitzgerald's*, Boomtown, Alamo*, Silver Club and Rail City. The two starred clubs also offer LS bringing their HA down even further to around .10%. These games are a no brainer and guess what? they are all h17.

Wow that Fitzgerald's Game really caught my eye..a couple questions though
CBJN Says they have 13 Tables at 5 Min/500 Max, are they any higher Min. Bet Tables or is every table $5? Reason why I ask is because id like to tackle this game one-on-one with the dealer, which brings me to my second question, how crowded are there tables usually?

They do have $25 tables, especially on the weekends. It really doesn't matter though if you're good with the $500 max. since you can bet any amount as your unit. If I remember correctly, their $25 game is a $1,000 max. Unless it's a 3 day weekend you shouldn't have to worry about a full table on the $25 and during the week, not even on the $5's.

Although I don't have the Reno experience of bj bob, expect Fitzgeralds and The Alamo especially to back you off quickly with a large spread. Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks also has a very playable single deck $25 minimum game.

How big can you really spread at the Alamo if the limit is still $100?
And don't forget the impenetrable fortress that is The Siena.

1) If you simply break it down to $/ hr. without looking at all the spread/ max./ min. razzle-dazzle, in the end with the almost ideal rules offered there, your hourly EV with a $25-$100 spread, is probably going to meet or exceed that of your local Injun joint. Just do the math and don't forget a casino ambiance that is unparalleled anywhere else in the U.S.
2) Since you have been declared Rhinosaurus non gratus at the Siena, you need to employ a simple "end-around" tactic. If your original River Club application was under the name Easy Rhino just enter the next one as E. Rhino or E.Z. Rhino. Play fair, keep the sessions short (<1 hour) and don't panhandle lunch comps and you should be fine.

Oh, don't get me wrong, a lot of damage can be done with $100 big bets in a decent single deck game, and that's not even accounting for playing two hands. But I was just wondering, how would you logistically manage a huge spread? Maybe work the entire $3-$100 range at the table? Of course, then you'd be managing green, red, and silver, which would get kinda ugly.
But you're right, the laundromat launches Alamo into a class of awesomeness all its own.

Easy Bro, You're not getting my point here. Save HUGE for the Happy Ranch, not the SD tables. You can probably beat the game at the Alamo with a 1:2 spread and very comfortably have your way with a 1:4 spread as suggested, not to mention maintaining your welcome. Think of it this way: A kid can walk into a candy shop every day of the year and sneak out with 1 or 2 pieces of candy without getting caught. It's when he starts walking out the door with hands and pockets full ,that he's going to get nailed. There's a dozen great candy shops around town and at the end of the day your loot bag will be just as full PLUS you can keep coming back for more very soon.
