You are right even if the count is really high and your betting big you can still lose a lot of hands in a row.

Yeah your right this state sucks for blackjack unless you can afford 50 dollar or 100 dollar double deck games.

If you bet the money you have on the table, then realize you can double up. Can you get money out of your pocket or does it have to be on the table?
