    Basic Counting Spreadsheet

I suppose you could ferret some of those winnings into your coat pocket if you wanted to stay below radar as well. Wouldn't be too hard to casually palm a black chip as you laid a bet.

    3:1 on suited blackjacks?

Any "even money" offer they give you is bogus if the BJ is 2:1. You should just put down the chips for insurance at the normal index (indices = plural index). If they disallow insurance and only allow you to take even money on BJs, the index would have to be high.

    3:1 on suited blackjacks?

Even money on a 2:1 blackjack comes out differently than on a 3:2 blackjack. On a 3:2, you bet 2 units. You can insure up to 1 unit. Let's say that's what happens. If dealer has BJ, you push on your original bet and win 2 units from the insurance. If dealer does not have BJ, you lose 1...

What worst mistakes do inexperienced players make?

    # 10's in deck = 16 # 7's in deck = 4 Also, bigger bets at bigger counts, where 10s are most likely to fall.

I'm very curious about that... care to share?

    What would you do?

For a BS player it can actually make a difference. First, less players means faster hands, so the house advantage is multiplied faster. Second, you can make some composition-dependent decisions if you can see more cards on a hand. For instance, if you have 16 vs. 10 and see that, in the 5...

how to play a small BR

Definitely! The AP community seems like one of the most friendly out there. Sonny, thanks for the advice. I'm going to follow the specs that Renzey put up there rather than what I suggested. I even did a quick calculation as to the difference to my EV if I changed that last $50 line to...

    What would you do?

Good thing your luck didn't hit you in reverse order, and congratulations for still being ahead of the expected value! There are a number of "simplified" counting systems you could use to narrow the EV gap, for instance the "front count" mentioned in Renzey's Blackjack Bluebook II. You count...

I'm building a new experimental apparatus for testing interactions between the materials we make and different gasses. In the planning stages of the apparatus, my boss said "measure out all of the tubing you'll need and buy three times that amount." Turns out I used between 2 and 3 times what...

Is taking mispayoffs legal? Can they take mispayoffs back?

I'd agree that when you enter the casino, you leave financial scruples at the door ^_^ They are in the business of taking people's money, and they are very clear (or at least they should be) on the risks involved. Also, since APs play with a positive expectation over the house, if we were...

    Amatuer hitting the tables tomorrow.

No one has addressed this directly so I will. The reason that people are reacting so negatively to this proposition (and rightly so) is that hunches in blackjack have *zero* validity. There is no way that anyone can predict what card is going to fall in the long term. Play the plays that are...

how to play a small BR

Hey, thanks a bunch for running that sim. I really appreciate it. I'm going to give it a shot for a while with fake money. It's convenient that there aren't any casinos nearby tempting me to throw away all my money before I train enough ^_^

how to play a small BR

Hi, I'm an "AP in training." I've read Renzey's book and am in the middle of Professional Blackjack. I have been practicing counting diligently and I want to set myself a betting schedule so that I can test my game (fake money). I'm using the KISS III count described by Renzey (level I...
