Latest news: New surveillance technology you should know about...

BlackjackInfo Newsletter, October 15, 2012

Hi Subscribers!     It's Ken Smith, from BlackjackInfo.com.

Just when you had given up on me ever sending another newsletter, here you go! I won't even bother confessing how long it has been. Let's just say "a long time."

No worries though. Let's get right to it...

In this issue, I have interesting news from the recent Global Gaming Expo, a reminder of a great new software download at BlackjackInfo, and a link to an audio interview with the leader of a very interesting blackjack team.

Interesting news from G2E

Thanks to the blackjack enthusiast and coder known as "MGP", BlackjackInfo hosts a downloadable combinatorial analyzer for blackjack. This software for Microsoft Windows allows you to do in-depth analysis of the game under many rule variations.

Earlier this month I attended the Global Gaming Expo in Vegas where I picked up a few items of interest from the dark side. Check out my blog post about the state of the art in video surveillance technology.

Online Gambling, State by State

The most recent edition of the radio show Gambling with an Edge features an interview with Colin and Ben, who ran an unusual team of blackjack pros. Their story was documented in the film Holy Rollers. While this interview focuses far too much on religious questions, it is still worth a listen.

Available in iTunes or as an MP3 download.

The Holy Rollers DVD is on sale for $17.99 at the BlackjackInfo store.

Although it won't happen quickly, it finally appears that the US will allow and regulate Internet gambling, a sharp reversal of the last 5 years of adamant prohibition. My latest project is a network of sites to track the developments in online gambling in all fifty states plus the District of Columbia.

I'll close with a personal note. This summer my wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with a trip to Istanbul. What an amazing city!

Istanbul photos and audio are available on my personal blog here.

Thanks for subscribing. Good cards, -Ken-
