10 players playing 1 segment of 500 hours is equivalent to....

....1 player playing 10 segments of 500 hours. (in the case that the 1 player does not ever change their betting units as they win)

What is so significant about those first 500 hours? Well, with the betting spread, etc., I am suppose to be averaging $10/hr....so $10 x 500 hours would be where my expected doubling of my bank roll would be.

Ok, I was not 100% right....not far off though.

The one player that loses their bank roll might not lose it all in the first 500 hours. (but good chance they do, or close to it)

But, breaking it up into segments is helpful in seeing the big picture. You sure as hell better not have your biggest losing streak in the 1st segment!!!

Either way...even if you lose your bank roll on the first $5,000....then, you can simply save up another $5,000 and go at it again. Eventually, you will be on the path to, most likely, being able to play forever.

The thing to add to the equation is...if you started with $5,000...but get to $6,000 at any point...your RoR is no longer 10%!!!!

No worries. Thank you for your participation on this forum.
Most newbies will stop and take a minute to reflect on responses from people like you and gronbog. But others won't and will just keep saying they are correct while having not a clue what they are talking about. Ahh the internet...

This is the best way and only way for me to fish for answers, since all the old timers here are so tight lipped!

ok, so turns out, my ror with $5000 bank roll, $10 units is actually 2%...not 10%...whoops!

but, im thankful i was wrong!! 2 out of 100 ppl going broke...i like the odds!

No your way on this forum is very far from the best way.
And again you are extremely incorrect. You have zero understanding of the game or ROR.
I suggested that you take a minute to review...but all you do is reply again immediately? Oy vehh.
We can't help you.

Ok sounds good. When on your cruise, or in Vegas bring this thread up on your laptop...and reread it again like 50 times.

One final suggestion: most people here will tell you that I've written a book that has helped them with their understanding of the game. May I suggest that you read it. I think you will learn a few things. For example, the ROR chapter is 39 pages long and is generally considered the most extensive and authoritative treatment of the subject in print.

Yes, I am interested in the book. What is the name of it?

Also, I started out on the wrong foot...being new, didn't mean to create a rift and be the guy that everyone hates on.

I respect the ppl that have paid their dues and made their money.

I did sit at the bj table for 600 hours last year, maybe that will garner an ounce of respect, maybe not. I underbet last year, as I didn't truly have $5000 i was ok w losing, but this year i do have that, so i can actually bet as big as I am suppose to.

Even after a tough year of learning, I am excited to go hard at it this year.

If I double my bank roll in 500 hours, I will be the happiest person on this planet.

"Thanks, Don! Being new here, I didn't have any assumption that a historically top blackjack player would be a regular on a message board. "

Understood. I'm currently a regular on three boards, and have been contributing to blackjack forums for more than 30 years.

"So, please understand my lack of proper respect was due to negligence."

Thank you. I understand.

"I will invest in this book."

I think you'll enjoy it. Let me know. And take your time. It's 536 pages, and it has to be digested slowly!

Don

Why did you lie about being all those aliases? The real Bob21 just posted on another site that he is not you. He even called Counting is Fun "some bozo."
Why do you even read or care about those stupid, ploppy sites?
