The fun of the beginning stages of a (hopefully) career

#21
Had my best night ever in my young career last night -- Won $650. I am now back to positive for the year (barely). Got into a hole early on.

Feels good to at least not be negative. Baby steps.

One suggestion. In your comments section, you would be much better served to note characteristics about the game itself: penetration, which dealers dealt more deeply, pit personnel traits, when the shift changes, etc. Your musing over how your big bets won or lost, what you doubled, how the dealer outdrew you, etc., are utterly irrelevant and useless information.

Will do. Thanks, Don.

2 nights ago....I actually played next to a counter that would play, on max bet, 2 hands of $300.

They started only allowing us to play through 50% of the shoe.

Luckily, I was already up $170 once I noticed, then I just left for the night. That was the first time I had ever experienced them deal with a counter in that manner.

He was complaining and cursing, asking the dealer why they are cutting it so deep. The dealer wouldn't tell him.

If I were the dealer, I would reply, "Do you really need to ask why?"

Some times the casino backs the wrong person off. They are worried about a counter and they have a dealer that you can do cuts on. Almost every round. So rare the more profitable skills can get used.

mostly just my local casino for now.
Does that figure match your records? I have experienced that figures from casinos are only estimates. Mine are always way off especially the local. Good Luck with your new adventure. Lots of ups and down. Don't let a bad run get you down. Play your game as long as you have the ammunition.

Actually, it does not match my records. You are correct. It is highly inaccurate.

I was surprised at how good the small shop I play at in AC had my numbers, but I played rated for comps so I think that's probably the difference (since you play unrated at the busy times, so they have a tougher time keeping track).
