First off, they don't contribute to national databases so the risks of playing rated are reduced. Secondly, I never play there more than once per month and am careful to rotate days and shifts. Thirdly, I limit my wins. Fourthly, I do things to minimize the appearance of how much I win. Fifthly, I never spread to more than $400.
Yes, but it is a chain and they share information with other properties in the chain and there are some other good games within that chain.

I only see you mention this place in regards to the DD game. They do have a very good 6 deck game, one of the better games in Las Vegas. Do you play that as well? I would think mixing up the two games would have some benefit.

Not long ago, I had a 6D shoe go positive very early. I dropped 10K in the first half of the shoe, then recovered it in the second half and finished the shoe net zero!
This is interesting. I learned early on that a big "hidden" negative was digging out from a big hole, getting back to about even, showing your spread multiple times and getting nothing for it, except back to even. Of course that is in reference to multiple shoes and showing spread multiple times. I avoid this with short sessions and exit trigger points, like at the shuffle after showing spread.

But that big hole and dig out occurring in the same shoe like you described will evade all the things I have in place, designed to avoid this scenario. I have had this occur, but not quite to the extent you mentioned. You must have been playing higher limits than I usually do and probably were playing a heads up situation....no?

I only play rated at the one place within the chain. So if I get backed off, the other places should be available (playing unrated) after a short break (avoiding a possible flyer). I have been backed off at most of the casinons within the chain with no ill effects at the one I play rated at.
And I do occasionally mix up the games, as you suggest.

The 50 rounds comments was in reference to a good shoe. So a 6 deck game (312 cards) dealt to 5 decks (260 cards) is roughly 50 rounds using the 5.5 cards (rounded) per round method. No?

Yes, of course a double deck game will result in more max bet opportunities over the same period of time compared to a 6 deck shoe game. Of course that would be sitting and playing through many shuffles and times through the cards, which I don't do for other reasons.

I think I have stated my position clearly on double deck where I play. Overall, double deck is not compatible to my goals of longevity. So I won't play: any double deck game known to be a counter trap (or even suspected), any double deck game that is part of a casino chain or group that is known to pass along information, any double deck game that the casino is a known contributor to the databases. That leaves 2 or 3, sometimes 4 double deck games that I am willing to play, usually independent type casinos not associated with anyone.

So I am just saying that since I opt for a lot of 6 deck shoe games, one of the things I really like is when you get that heads up game, the count goes significantly positive, fairly early and you can score many max bet opportunities in one shoe, and not only one shoe, but one quick shoe meaning not a lot of time for an evaluation, because playing heads up for the most part the player controls the speed of the game, unless you have a very uncooperative dealer. So it is just a perfect scenario.

Now of course to get to that perfect scenario, I start playing and bail out of a lot of shoes.
What's your take on playing 2 hands? Do you think 2 spots of 100 draws more heat than 1 spot of 200?

It didn't start out heads up, but fortunately, became heads up pretty quickly with all the mall cards coming out and the dealer making hands. I forget exactly, but think I was betting 2x600 and barely varied my bet, if at all, past the midpoint of the shoe. And needless to say, I left the table when the shoe ended.

I am taking a break for the rest of the year, will start back up next year.

Had my biggest loss ever in my career....$1,500 in one night...and now down $875 for the year after 70 hours this year...and almost 1,000 lifetime hours.

A break will do me good. Plus, I am in transition of job, going from getting paychecks end of every week to now selling insurance policies as well as signing up businesses for credit card processing...both jobs paying residual income, but not getting the weekly check I am use to, so I am going to go balls to the walls working through the end of the year.

Blackjack can wait!
