is there advantage play for baccarat? I heard there is, including card counting. Do we have any experts out there who can fill us in?

Kind of top secret. I know of one way, but it's extremely hard to pull off, and the EV is less than counting 8 deck shoes with poor penetration.

According to Shackleford Baccarat is countable but it is not practical to do so as you will have a slight advantage once in 475 hands.

The only other legal means I can think of beating it is marked card play or some form of sequencing the shuffle. Most games where I play use ASM's so I have never placed a bet. A cheat team did quite well on baccarat recently but they had a dealer in on it and got caught. Essentially you must have some method of knowing what one of the cards falling on either player or banker next round will be, and then betting according to your advantage. If you can devise a simple system of doing that you'll beat the game...though please PM me if you come up with one :)

There are some extremely rare advantages of over 100% on single hands that pop up, but again, you'd need a huge bankroll (a million or so), and probably 4 or 5 players at the table to have a decent shot at it. Not worth it when you can just run a blackjack team with those same resources.

If you could see the first card before each round and bet player or bank accordingly you would have a 5%+ edge. ze
I presume this is how a pro AP would play it. I'll start paying more attention to this game and see if I ever spot anything. Thanks for the advice.

I herd some people do well by going back and forth between player and banker while martingaling. I've done well doing that too but just once in a while, somehow the draws match you step by step up to 10 hands. One time, I lost 15 in a row even though I mixed it up between player and banker using a random number chart. That really roused my suspicions of unfair play by the online casino.

I've had only one experience with Baccarat. I lost 20 straight hands! On the 17th hand I switched to Banc, lost, then switched back to Player and lost the remaining hands. This happened a year ago at the Taj Mahal in AC. I kid you not. I am aching to find a way to beat this game.

John May has a book Baccarat for the Clueless ....
i haven't read it. in fact i don't even know how to play Baccarat.
according to May it's a very difficult game to beat. i believe only a very, very small advantage can ever be gleaned. it would seem a good game to stay away from.

A 0.053624 -0.078313 Banker
2 0.049105 -0.073647 Banker
3 0.042813 -0.067164 Banker
4 0.032266 -0.056243 Banker
5 0.011320 -0.034723 Banker
6 -0.029691 0.007562 Player
7 -0.094126 0.073651 Player
8 -0.191207 0.172935 Player

All things considered, the player advantage, if the dealer always flashes, is 0.067647.

All of John May's books have been combined into one anthology called - John May For The Clueless.

I remember the time that Ed Thorp jumped on a discussion board with May and debunked May's Bac system. zg
