Black Hawk Colorado

I wasn't in Blackhawk, but was in Cripple Creek a few years ago (another one of the 3 towns in CO that permits very limited stakes gambling.) It was a cutesy place, and if you just want to entertain yourself for a little while, it's probably worth a stop. Some of the casinos didn't even have table games, as at those limits the slots are much more lucrative for them.
Was there in January 2006. Did not go up the hill to Central City but there is free shuttle bus. You can expect a large crowd on the weekend. Casinos are mostly renovated historic buildings so on the very small side. Got a few match-play coupons in the free magazines. At the time I was not paying attention to # of decks or rules (and given the low stakes I'm not sure you really need to). Nice diversion but not a destination.

I play at Black Hawk about three times a month. All casinos have $5 flat betting. Most have six decks, stand on soft 17, double okay after splits. Pretty good rules. There is one casino however, that stands out above all the rest. That is the Riveria. It probably has the best rules you'll find anywhere: single deck, Blackjack pays 3 to 2, stand on soft 17 and double after splits. The odds actually favor the basic strategy player by about .18%. So if you don't mind the $5 flat betting, it's the place to play. There is only one table with those rules but amazingly enough I can almost always find a spot open. Matter of fact I can usually play 2 or 3 hands at the same time. Hope that helps.

I appreciate the info, but we actually drove by the exit on the way to the airport this morning. Sounds like a neat place to visit...the road up there from the west (Exit 243 I think) looked like a "fun" road on the map--"Oh My God" Road or something?!? Maybe next time.
Just outside of Cortez, CO we stopped at the Ute Mountain Casino about 9 AM on the way to AZ last week...none of the table games were up that early, but won $5 on a slot machine to make the quick visit worth while.
