Blackjack Machine

CNBC did a report the other night on Vegas. What was not significant was that they refered to card counting as cheating, that's nothing new, we're used to it. What was significant was the room they demonstrated RFID in. In the background was a three card poker machine. It was about the size of a typical three card poker table but it was all electronic. Is there any threat of this technology coming to blackjack? Does it already exist?

electronic tables

All of the 'blackjack' at the Harrah's Casino in Cherokee, NC is on electronic tables. Everyone has their own TV screen imbedded into the table. They have real dealers to handle the chips, however. Their gambling agreement doesn't allow any card or dice games, only machines.

I'm guessing these tables shuffle after every deal like on-line, but I'm not sure.

Blackjack is no stranger to technology. We have seen video blackjack, online blackjack, CSMs, ASMs, RFID chips, Mindplay, and plenty of other "deviced" used by casinos. In fact, many players have made quite a bit of money from these devices. However, the trend seems to be that people prefer "human" plackjack and I think that our fair sport is quite safe for the time being.
